Getting Healthy with Joy
Lifestyle Changes
The bookstores and libraries are filled with self-help books on How to Improve your Life, How to Become a Millionaire,
How to Meet the Right Mate, How to Stop Overeating, How to Buy a Bigger Car, etc. One is made to believe that with all the
material out there, it would be a breeze to make a lifestyle change. Well, here is my thought on the subject… All the
books and motivational speakers in the world don't take into consideration one of the most important factors - Human
Nature! It's just not that easy to make a decision that will change your life.
So, I might as well add my two-cents and give you a couple of questions to think about when you make time to concentrate
on "YOU."
What change(s) can you make to improve your lifestyle?
Whether it's eating, drinking, gambling, relationship, work related or a social problem, it needs to be addressed if you
plan to move forward with your life. Seems simple, but it can be one of the most difficult things to do because there can
be more than one area in your life that needs fixing and it's prohibiting you from being the person you deserve to be.
Start by looking at People, Places, and Things. The people surrounding you, the places you frequent, and the things that
bring you happiness or pain. Another thing you can do is keep a log to write down what, where, and when the problem
occurs, then develop a plan of action to change it.
How can you implement the change(s)?
Slowly! No matter what it is, change may not be easy. Some people can do it with no problem, while others may agonize
over it. The important thing is that you don't put your head in the sand and think the problem or situation will clear up by itself.
If it has caused you to think about it more than once, kept you awake at night, hurt someone else, or made you angry, then
it warrants change. Everyone will have a different way to remedy his or her situation, but you've got to realize that you
can't make progress if you continue to do the same thing over and over. If it's not working for you, do what? Change it!
